According to the U.S. National Park Service, Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve is currently fully open. This means all operations are back to normal. The National Park Service requires everyone at this park, regardless of vaccination status, to continue to wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces, such as narrow/busy trails, overlooks, visitor center patios, & other congested areas.

Face Masks or Coverings Required in Certain Areas

Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve is currently requiring masks or face coverings in certain or all areas. Depending on your vaccination status, if you are not fully vaccinated (meaning two weeks after your final vaccination), and according to CDC guidelines, which currently depends on the COVID-19 transmissibility rate in the community in and around the park. Most parks requiring masks indoors have put an alert out (found below in the Alerts section). Please refer to the U.S. National Park Service, the state of Colorado and the local community for more detailed information.

Social Distancing Required

Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve is currently requiring everyone to social distance, 6 feet or more, from others. This usually means outside of your immediate group. Some parks may also have size restrictions on gatherings to help assist in social distancing. Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve Overview

Open 24/7 year round! There are no reservations to visit or limit on the number of visitors in the park and preserve, but there is currently limited capacity in the visitor center. Entrance Fees

Oversized Vehicle, 15+ passengers, age 16+ - $15
Per passenger, 16 years and older in oversized vehicle, including 15 passenger vans, small buses, etc. Valid for 7 days. Passengers under 16 are free.
Motorcycle and Riders - $20
One motorcycle and all its riders; valid for 7 days.
Non-Commercial Vehicle and Occupants - $25
Passenger vehicle with all occupants; fee valid for 7 days.
Great Sand Dunes Annual Family Pass - $45
Covers one family's entrance for 12 months from time of purchase. Valid for two adults with signatures plus others in vehicle.
