  • Tourism to Carlsbad Caverns National Park Creates $27.4 Million in Economic Benefits

    A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 349,244 visitors to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in 2021 spent $25.1 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 312 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $27.4 million.

  • Additional Preventative Measures Implemented Due to Increasing Fire Danger

    As a result of increasing fire danger at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, overnight camping is prohibited, permitting of overnight backcountry trips is suspended, and propane stoves are prohibited. The previously issued preventative measures remain in effect.

    Rangers at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, assisted by multiple federal and local agencies, conducted an operation to investigate and remove six boxes labeled “blasting caps” from Ogle Cave.

  • Carlsbad Caverns National Park Closed During Upcoming Holidays

    Carlsbad Caverns National Park will be closed on November 25, December 25, and January 1. This includes the visitor center, cavern, entrance gates to vehicles for public safety, and all park roads and trails.

  • Carlsbad Caverns Implements Precautions to Prevent Spread of White-Nose Syndrome

    In April 2021, Pd (Pseudogymnoascus destructans) the fungus that causes White-Nose Syndrome (WNS) in bats, was detected on hibernating bats and cave walls in two eastern New Mexico caves in Lincoln and DeBaca County.

  • Virtually Experience the Rock of Ages Program

    On December 19, Carlsbad Caverns National Park will begin to release nine podcasts to experience the Rock of Ages Program. Two radio theater episodes will be released each weekend for five weeks and made available on the park’s website.
