Burn Ban Lifted in All Areas of North Cascades National Park Service Complex

Effective Friday, September 13, the burn ban is lifted on all lands within North Cascades National Park Service Complex. This includes all National Park Service lands and campgrounds in Stehekin, along State Route 20, and the Ross Lake area.
Pioneer Fire Level 1 Evacuation for Stehekin

Effective yesterday at 6 pm, a Level 1 Evacuation notice for Stehekin has been issued by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management in coordination with Northwest Incident Management Team 3. A Level 1 Evacuation alerts residents and visitors there is a wildfire in the area. The evacuation level is being downgraded from a Level 2 Evacuation notice issued on July 25.
Colonial Creek Campground South Closure and Additional Fire Starts

Colonial Creek South Campground and boat launch are closed to manage visitor safety, firefighter access, and emergency response in conjunction with firefighting efforts on the Ruby Fire.
Ruby Fire

Following a recent storm pattern with multiple lightning strikes across the area, an additional fire is active in Ross Lake National Recreation Area within North Cascades National Park Service Complex. The Ruby Fire, estimated at 107 acres, was detected August 9 and is located on the south side of Ruby Mountain.
Goodell Creek Campground Reopens

Goodell Creek Campground, raft launch, and picnic area are now open following a strong initial attack and continued work by firefighters.
Additional Area, Trail, and Camp Closures due to Fire Activity

Park officials have closed additional areas, trails, and camps due to increased fire activity on the Pioneer Fire and on a new fire start, the Flat Creek Fire, west of Stehekin on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Closures are in effect to manage visitor safety, firefighter access, and emergency response to the fires across the area.
Goodell Creek Campground Closure Due to Fire Activity

Due to firefighting activity, Goodell Creek Campground, raft launch, and picnic area are closed until further notice. An illegal campfire spread to a large cedar tree and continues to slowly burn.

Effective today at 8 am, a Level 2 Evacuation notice for the Stehekin Community, from Hazard Creek through the Stehekin Valley, including the Stehekin landing west to High Bridge has been issued by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management in coordination with Northwest Incident Management Team 3. A Level 2 Evacuation alerts residents and visitors there is danger from a wildfire in the area.
Cascade River Road Closure

Park officials have closed Cascade River Road, Cascade Pass Trail, and Johannesburg Cross-country Zone to manage visitor safety due to the nearby Pincer Two Fire on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Cascade River Road is closed at MP 8 (Marble Creek) and there is no access to North Cascades National Park beyond the closure.
Campfires Banned in All Portions of North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area

Effective Friday, July 12, campfires or the ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans and barbeque grills, are banned in all portions of North Cascades National Park Service Complex – North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. This includes all National Park Service lands and campgrounds along State Route 20 as well as Hozomeen and the entire Stehekin Valley. Stoves or grills that are solely fueled by liquid petroleum fuels for the purpose of cooking are allowed in all locations while cooking.
