Electric vehicle charger now available at Apgar Visitor Center

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [October 29, 2024] – Glacier National Park and Glacier National Park Conservancy this week announced a new level two electric vehicle charger available for public use in the Apgar Visitor Center parking lot. The new charger was installed and ready for use in late September 2024.
Section of Highline Trail remains closed after bear encounter

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 23, 2024] – A section of Highline Trail in Glacier National Park remains closed from Haystack Butte to Granite Park Chalet after a visitor’s encounter with a bear on the morning of September 19. The trail will reopen once park rangers patrolling the area can determined that the bear is no longer in the area.
Public Invited to Mount Brown Hawk Watch Event

Section of Highline Trail closed due to bear encounter

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 19, 2024] – Glacier National Park rangers closed a section of Highline Trail this morning from Haystack Butte to Granite Park Chalet due to a visitor’s encounter with a bear. The species of bear is still under investigation. The closure will remain in place until further notice.
Going-to-the-Sun Road reopened

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 12, 2024] – The Going-to-the-Sun Road was reopened this morning after park officials made the proactive decision to close it at 9 pm on September 11 due to forecasted moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms that made the area susceptible to mudslides and falling rock.
Alpine Section of Going-to-the-Sun Road closing at 9 pm tonight due to storm warning

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 11, 2024] – Glacier National Park officials are proactively closing the alpine section of Going-to-the-Sun Road at 9 pm on September 11 through early morning Friday, September 13, 2024, due to forecasted moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms that make the area susceptible to mudslides and falling rock. The road will be closed between Avalanche Creek and Jackson Glacier Overlook.
Tourism to Glacier National Park contributes over $554M to local economy

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 6, 2024] – A new National Park Service report shows that 2,933,616 visitors to Glacier National Park in 2023 spent $372,129,000 in communities near the park. That spending supported 5,725 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $554,585,000.
Glacier National Park Vehicle Reservations End September 9

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [September 5, 2024] – Glacier National Park would like to remind visitors that September 8, 2024 is the last day vehicle reservations are required. This includes reservations for Going-to-the-Sun Road via the West Entrance, the North Fork, and Many Glacier.
Glacier National Park hosts first ever Astronomy Week

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [August 30, 2024] – Join Glacier National Park for its first ever Astronomy Week September 3 through September 6, 2024. Events during the week will be hosted throughout the park and include both daytime and nighttime activities. There will be solar viewing, night sky programs, a 3D Mars panorama, Dusty Star Observatory Tours, astrophotography workshops, an interactive art project, and evening talks.
Glacier Park reopens the Alpine Sections of GTSR

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [August 29, 2024] – Going-to-the-Sun Road has reopened following dangerous road conditions caused by snow and ice. The road closed at approximately 2 pm yesterday, between Avalanche Creek and Jackson Glacier Overlook.
