Parks plan fall prescribed fire activities in the Bald Hills

Redwood National and State Parks plans to conduct a series of prescribed burns this fall in the prairies and oak woodlands of the Bald Hills east of Orick. The prescribed fire season in the parks begins in late September or early October, as weather conditions permit.

Tourism to Redwood National Park contributes $37 million to local economy

A new National Park Service report shows that 409,105 visitors to Redwood National Park in 2023 spent $29.6 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 384 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $37.9 million.
Redwood National and State Parks Hosts Naturalization Ceremony 2024

ORICK, CA- On August 7th at Redwood National and State Parks, under clear skies and a canopy of coastal redwoods, 50 people raised their right hands to become the newest citizens of the United States. The applicants came from 22 countries around the world, including South Africa, the Philippines, Italy, and Laos.

National Park Service, Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation create Xaa-tr'vlh-nvt-tr'e'-yu', or “Women in Fire” initiative

The National Park Service (NPS) and the Tribal Council of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation have signed a historic Annual Funding Agreement (AFA) that paves the way for projects, like an initiative called Xaa-tr'vlh-nvt-tr'e'-yu', or “Women in Fire.” The agreement will provide more efficient collaboration and partnership on projects aimed to protect the natural and cultural resources in Redwood National and State Parks.
U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón to host nationwide art project during visit to Redwood National and State Parks

Seven national parks, including Redwood National and State Parks, were selected by Limón to be part of her signature project “You are Here: Poetry in Parks.” The initiative is a partnership between the National Park Service, Library of Congress, and the Poetry Society of America that features site-specific poetry installations in the parks.

Applications for the Fall 2024 Artist-in-Residence program at Redwood National and State Parks open June 15 and close June 30th. The residency will take place November 1st–30th, 2024. Redwood Parks Conservancy, California State Parks and the National Park Service invite artists of all mediums to apply!

Law enforcement officers at Redwood National & State Parks are seeking assistance in identifying a suspect in a series of burglaries and thefts over Memorial Day weekend.
