    The National Park Service (NPS) proposes an Alaska Region Coastal Park Units Fire Management Plan (FMP) Environmental Assessment for the following park units: Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve (ANIA), Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GLBA), Kenai Fjords National Park (KEFJ), Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park (KLGO), which includes the Chilkoot National Historic Trail, and Sitka National Historical Park (SITK).

  • Kenai Fjords National Park Annual Visitation Release

    Seward, AK—Today, the National Park Service announced that 400 national parks reported a total of 325.5 million visits in 2023, an increase of 13 million or 4% over 2022.

  • Visitor Fatality on the Harding Icefield Trail

    On the afternoon of July 17th, 2023, Alaska State Trooper Dispatch received a report of a medical emergency with CPR in progress approximately 3.7 miles up the Harding Icefield Trail within Kenai Fjords National Park. The victim was reported to be a 15-year-old male.

  • Aircraft Accident on Beach of Aialik Glacier

    On June 26, 2023, Kenai Fjords National Park was contacted by the Alaska State Troopers. They reported that a single engine aircraft had a rough landing, disabling the aircraft, near the southwest side beach of Aialik Glacier.
